The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I saw another review call this "such a second book" and I fully agree. While Truly Devious was enjoyable and engaging, this felt like a really long epilogue or a prologue that didn't need to be its own book. The characters are still good but the mystery isn't as engaging. It's nice to get some answers to the main mystery, but it's a lot of filler to get there.
That being said, I will be reading the final book because the author chose to end on a cliffhanger yet again. I think that's a lame way to get people invested in the book, so I'll be getting it from the library. If this is her schtick, I can't see myself reading more of them.
