The Fifth To Die by J.D. Barker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved the first 4MK book and eagerly anticipated the sequel. While most second entries in both book and films seem to disappoint, this book definitely doesn't follow that pattern - it's even better than the first.
While the first one reminded me a lot of the Hannibal Lector series, this one continued that theme and added more mystique and mystery to the series. The concurrent mysteries kept me drawn in for the entire duration of the novel. I never felt like there was filler or unnecessary fat. I literally could not put it down - I even found myself falling asleep with the book in my hands a few times, well after my usual bedtime.
The last few chapters - wow, talk about ramping up the action and ending on a major cliffhanger. How am I going to wait til Book 3 comes out?!
