Murder Games by James Patterson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Another solid Patterson serial killer thriller. I've said time and time again that you know what you're going to get when you choose a JP book and this one follows much of the same Mainstays. You've got a witty, charismatic leading man, a supporting female detective, a bunch of murders, a mysterious serial killer, and a thread that binds them all together.
While the serial killer himself is not too memorable, the motive, means, and clues to next victim are definitely intriguing. The overall plot is enjoyable to read, especially when it comes full circle.
The main character, Dr. Dylan, is a gay, married man trying for adoption with his husband and this adds a new element to the genre. Kudos to Patterson for breaking the Bond tropes. His backstory twists seemed kind of random and I'm not sure what they contributed other than giving him a lot of random backup characters.
Fast paced and enjoyable thriller. Definitely worth the listen/read!
