Zom-B by Darren Shan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I have a hard time describing my feelings on this book. While I wasn't disappointed in it, I felt like I wanted more. The entire book felt like a prologue to a much larger story, and unfortunately my library does not have the sequel.
The beginning of the story (pre-zombies) is a fascinating look into what it's like to grow up in a racist household. The second part delves into the zombie horror, but both felt lacking. I would have preferred either a longer book or focusing on one or the other storyline.
Due to these issues, I don't think I will invest more time in the rest of the series, but I did find this first one enjoyable. I wouldn't necessarily recommend picking it up until you have access to the entire series in one go.
