The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This books precedes Cilka's Journey, which I actually read first. This book fills in some of the gaps of Cilka's journey that I was missing from that novel.
This book does a great job showing a real life account of what it was like to be forced to work for the Nazis within the camps. Lale risked life and limb to protect and improve the lives of his fellow prisoners, while keeping up the guise of helping the Nazis keep order within the camp. It often reminded me of Schindler's List, if Schindler was a Jewish inmate within the walls of Auschswitz.
I lost a bit of interest towards the end, but regained it after glazing over through a few chapters.
All in all, this book is well worth your time to read.
