It by Stephen King
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
It may have taken me nearly a month to read it, but I finally did It. (That an an inadvertent pun, but I’ll roll with It. This is going to get out of hand.)
I knew the broad strokes of this book before I ever began it - that this book had to do something with a killer clown I should also mention that I’ve never seen any of the film adaptations. Beyond the clowns, there’s so much more than just a horror book. It is more of a coming-of-age tale and how your adulthood more or less ends up being a repeat of your childhood.
Things I liked about this book:
-The sheer feeling of success in finishing it
-The battle sequences
-The accurate description of bullying, trauma, and fear
-The well developed characters and seeing how they grew
Things I didn’t like:
-The insane length of the book
-Overly descriptive parts that had no bearing on the plot
-The random sexual references with children (one time was more than enough but we were treated to two scenes)
This is probably closer to a 3.5 star read and I think everyone should probably read it at some point just to be able to scoff at people who haven’t.
